Palestinian National Authority (PA), led by its President Mahmoud Abbas who was overwhelming reelected earlier this month, securing his hands in the upcoming peace negotiations with the United States and Israel is set to press International Criminal Court (ICC) on Tuesday to open probe on Israeli war crimes with regard to its alleged illegal settlement activity in the west bank and East Jerusalem.
PA’s negotiations affairs department told the media that it is time to hold the Israeli War Criminals accountable and bring justice to the Palestinian people by accelerating the opening of a criminal investigation at the ICC into war crimes and crime against humanity committed by Israel. The department added, “ in light of the accelerating rate and intensity of crimes related to the settlement regime, the State of Palestine finds that the delay in the ongoing preliminary examination does not serve the cause of justice.” The Department urged ICC to accelerate its work in this field.
PA Foreign Minister Riad Malki is scheduled to meet with ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda on Tuesday morning at Hague to hand her a new file against Israel, and to follow on previous submissions to the court.© FxWire Pro 2018.
