The inter-Korean meeting between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-un turned out to be a huge success where the North Korean supremo agreed to the path to denuclearization and defense chiefs of two Koreans signed arms cooperation agreement. As part of the military agreement, the Koreas will halt border drills from November 1st. South Korean Defense Minister Song Young-moo and North Korea’s No Kwang-chol also agreed to stop military flights in the vicinity of the demarcation line. In addition to that, the agreement envisions setting up a buffer zone in the Yellow Sea and suspending maritime drills. It also calls for the withdrawal of soldiers from the demilitarized zone and disarming the servicemen keeping watch at Panmunjom border village. The nations also agreed that each would close eleven border guard posts by the end of 2018.

In addition to the military agreement, North Korea agreed to specific steps to denuclearize. As a first step, the Supreme leader agreed to allow international monitors to witness the dismantling of the nation’s missile and rocket engine test site.

Moreover, as a sign of peace and reconciliation, the nations have decided to send a united team to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and will submit a joint bid for the 2032 Summer Olympics.

President Donald Trump hailed the success of the meeting in a series of tweets, “Kim Jong Un has agreed to allow Nuclear inspections, subject to final negotiations, and to permanently dismantle a test site and launch pad in the presence of international experts. In the meantime there will be no Rocket or Nuclear testing. Hero remains to continue being........ ....returned home to the United States. Also, North and South Korea will file a joint bid to host the 2032 Olympics. Very exciting!”
