Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused Saudi Arabia, whose king is the custodian of the two Holy Mosques, Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, the two most holy sites for Muslims all around the world, of treason against Muslims as leaked reports suggested that Saudi Arabia is siding with the United States over President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Leaked communications earlier this month pointed that both Egypt and Saudi Arabia were aware of President Trump’s decision well in advance and was on board with it. It is being reported that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin-Salman even offered a plan where a village outside Jerusalem, which falls in Area B according to the Oslo Accord will be the capital of the new state of Palestine.
Here are some of the key comments from the supreme leader, (the comments were published on the supreme leaders’ website.
- “The dangerous Western propaganda empire, which is mainly run by Zionists, should not be allowed to ignore the key issues of the Muslim world and eliminate the main issues of the Muslim community.”
- “In the issue of Palestine, three incidents have occurred, namely ‘the occupation of land,’ ‘the mass expulsion of millions of people’ and ‘a massacre and major crime against humanity,’ and this oppression is unprecedented in history.”
- “It should not be assumed that confrontation with the Zionist regime is useless; rather, by God’s grace and favor, struggles against the Zionist regime will bear fruit, just as the resistance movement has made progress compared to previous years…. “There was a day when the Zionists chanted the slogan of ‘From the Nile to the Euphrates,’ but now they have been forced to erect a wall to protect themselves.”
- “The governments in the region that are helping the Americans and are cooperating with the Zionist regime to counter Muslin brethren are committing outright treachery as the Saudis are doing.”
Iran, the leading Shi’ite Muslim power, and Sunni Muslim Saudi Arabia, a key US ally, are rivals for influence in the Middle East where they support opposing sides in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon.© FxWire Pro 2018.
